Chapter 11: Dragoon the Progeny

Blissful Earth: 2027

After the epic encounter with Ophelia, Charm took a nap on her cot. She had been meaning to have a serious think about things, but felt so emotionally drained from the morning activities and encounters, that she could not stop herself nodding off.

She dreamt about Ophelia; about her wonderful hair, her lovely legs, and her luscious lips… that had come so close to her own.

What is wrong with me, thought Charm as she woke up, the dream still vivid and overly exciting. Do I have some sort of weird fetish for straight girls? And it’s not like I’ve even gotten to know her yet. I’m such a loser.

She got off the cot and fixed her bedhead in the mirror. It was almost noon.

Charm then went back to the command deck, nervously looking around for Ophelia as she went, half expecting to be harassed by the fiery redhead at each and every turn. The paranoid feeling enhanced somewhat by the provocative dream she had experienced.

Oscar was waiting for her when she got there, and her mother was off talking with DD about the cypher. Charm was taken back to the briefing room by Oscar, who then explained to her what she had already been told by Ophelia. His daughter was going to be in charge of Charm’s training.

“We’ve already met,” said Charm.

“You have?” Oscar seemed surprised.

“She… introduced herself, when I went back to mine and mom’s room.”

“Ah, well, Ophelia can come across as a little intense sometimes,” said Oscar, as if he somehow knew about the difficulty of the encounter. “But I think you two will get on great.”

“Yeah… I’m sure we will.”

“Just make sure to follow her instructions. She’s a very accomplished Psion, with successful combat experience. In my opinion she’s the best one to help bring you fully up to speed, though of course, I will also be around to assist.”

“Okay, thanks.”

They went over the training schedule, which made Charm wonder why Ophelia was not there as well. If she was going to be the one responsible for the majority share, then it would have made more sense for her to be present.

Oscar then told Charm that the training would start tomorrow, after the Psy-Booster infusion. So he gave her the rest of the day off, advising that she go to bed early tonight to get the maximum rest for the tasks ahead.

Still nervous about running into Ophelia, Charm went straight back to her room, planting herself in front of the wall-screen to watch some of the entertainment packages that were available. Live TV was disabled because they were underwater, so she put on films and shows that had been pre-recorded, Jeremy helping her to queue up a decent selection.

TV, live or otherwise, always helped her to calm down.

A few hours later Kalvir returned, apparently she had been chatting with and getting to know DD, and they had become friends. It turned out that DD had a lot of responsibilities, including the overall operation of HMS Imperious; navigation, logistics, and defence.
